Some photos I took of a show we did recently called ‘Everybody Talks About The Weather… We Don’t’ at Market House, Kingston
by we I mean:
Kyliegh Darney - flower installation, white ribbons and book of Iraq body count
Nick Lord - collages of protests and other found imagery
Heena Patel - intricate drawings [portraits]
Maya U Schueller-Elmes [your truly] - etchings of string, protest photos, artist workers coalition material and new set of demands
Tom Whittaker - balaclavas & flag on wooden work-bench, razors & worry-dolls encased in resin and pile of black placards
some pinhole images i recently made ‘positive’
[long one is from a biscuit tin, smaller ones are from a muller rice pot]
Two prints from a series I’ve been working on for the past 2 weeks, with a working title of Soft-ground String. The one with the grey ‘background’ was unsuccessful but I thought it was worth showing….

I was desperate to actually get something into Papergirl Manchester this time, after missing the last submission date by a couple of days.
I’m not sure if I particularly like this print…but I had about and hour to do something in the print room (so time to ground, draw on,put in the acid, ink up and make one print.) Minimum size is/was A4 (I barely ever work bigger than A5) - so my solution to my tiny print was to photocopy it 10 times and write on the back that whoever gets it should fold it to their desired size. The photocopies were a slightly frustrating necessity,it was the only way to mini-mass produce the image whilst leaving a grace day for the package to get to Manchester,I would have preferred to have done 10 actual editions. But hey,it’s done now!Got to live with it.Hope they all find a nice home.
